VAAL Art Show 2015 | Art of Jaasiel

Hello Everybody & Welcome to the Art of Jaasiel’s Blog. I’m so glad to announce the one of my newest painting just won an Honorable Mention in the Juried Exhibition VAAL’s Art Show. It is a great show, full of great art and powered by a fantastic community & the members of VAAL.

So, today I’d like to talk about the Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange VAAL. The mission of VAAL is to bring together area artists to foster their activities, and to amplify their visibility and voice in the wider community. VAAL is located in LaGrange GA, but the community artists VAAL represents are from all over Georgia and part of Alabama. Last Friday August 28th 2015 was the opening reception of the annual VAAL Art Exhibition. This time the event was juried by Dr. Robert B. Ekelund. He is Professor and Eminent Scholar Emeritus in economics at Auburn University. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 articles and essays and 31 books between 1967 and 2015, including a number of papers on art, artists, cultural economics, museum attendance and artistic creativity.

Also the Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange proudly features the art of the Sarah Swanson. The whole 2nd floor of the LaGrange Art Museum is filled with Sarah’s impressive artwork. She is an amazing, talented & beautiful artist. We are so glad to have her as a member of VAAL.

According to Dr. Robert B. Ekelund, juror of the Art Show, The Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange granted awards & cash prizes to the following members:

Best in Show: Lanora Pierce Yates

1^st Place: D.J McElvy

2^nd Place: Whit Perry

3^rd Place: Sandy Cox

Honorable Mention: Jaasiel Barrientos

The event is hosted at LaGrange Art Museum, located in Downtown LaGrange GA. The Art show will last from August 28th to September 26 2015. It is a great show. If you are around the City of LaGrange come see this great art show.
